Musician and filmmaker Palash Muchhal visited Khatu Shyam Temple on Wednesday and turned off the comments section on his Instagram post as reports emerged that a case has been registered against him under the provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The pictures shared by Muchhal show him praying at the temple and bowing before the deity.

Details of the development came on the same day The complaint became public. This complaint was lodged by Vidyan Prakash Mane, a resident of Sangli and childhood friend of cricketer Smriti Mandhana. This also comes after Muchhal and Mandhana’s wedding, which was scheduled to take place on November 23, 2025, was first postponed indefinitely and later cancelled.

Temple Darshan and Instagram Post

Muchhal shared pictures of the temple darshan on Instagram and wrote in the caption, “Where I bowed my head, I found peace there,” before adding, “Khatu Shyam Ji – Salasar Balaji – Jeevan Mata Ji.” He also turned off the comments section on the post.

The visit to the temple attracted attention as it came amid reports of a police case. In the pictures, Muchhal was seen praying and paying obeisance in the temple.

Complaint and case details

According to the complaint, the incident took place on November 22 at a toll plaza on Sangli-Ashta road. Mane has alleged that during a debate, Palash Muchhal had made derogatory remarks on caste.

Police have registered a case under Section 3(1) along with Section 351(2) and 352 of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Investigation is ongoing.

Muchhal and Mandhana’s wedding was scheduled to take place on November 23, 2025 in Mandhana’s hometown Sangli, Maharashtra. However, the wedding was first postponed indefinitely and later cancelled.

In a post on Instagram, Mandhana confirmed the development and wrote, “There has been a lot of speculation about my life over the past few weeks and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I have to clarify that the wedding has been cancelled.”

allegations and response

Later, Smriti’s friend Vidyaan Mane, who claimed to be present at the wedding ceremonies, made serious allegations against Muchhal, including infidelity.

However, Muchhal rejected the allegations and described them as baseless. In a statement, the musician said Mane’s claims were “factually incorrect”. He also said that such efforts are being made to malign his image and he will soon take legal action.

Muchhal has not yet commented on the matter.
