The Padma Awards 2026 ceremony is scheduled to be held in New Delhi today, in which President Draupadi Murmu will confer the civil honor at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Those honored this year include late actor Dharmendra, Mollywood superstar Mammootty, singer Alka Yagnik and actor R Madhavan besides award winners from many other fields.
When and where to watch Padma Awards 2026
The first civilian investiture ceremony of 2026 will take place on Monday at the Republic Pavilion of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The event will start at 5:00 pm, the ceremony will be telecast live on the YouTube channel of All India Radio.
Who are the recipients of Padma Award?
This year the government approved 131 Padma awards, which include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.
According to the official details, 66 awards will be given in the first round. President Murmu is expected to confer two Padma Vibhushan, six Padma Bhushan and 58 Padma Shri awards during today’s ceremony.

Who will be present at the ceremony
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are among the dignitaries likely to attend the event.
The remaining Padma awardees will be honored during the second phase of the investiture ceremony, which is expected to be held later this year.
The Padma Award, announced annually on the occasion of Republic Day, is one of India’s highest civilian honours. The awards recognize contributions in fields such as arts, social work, literature, medicine, science and engineering, sports, public affairs, trade and industry and civil service.
Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, while Padma Bhushan honors distinguished service of a high order. Padmashree is awarded for distinguished service in any field.
