Actor-filmmaker R Madhavan, veteran Malayalam superstar Mammootty, actor Satish Shah and Telugu cinema veteran Rajendra Prasad are among the film personalities who are set to receive the Padma award from President Draupadi Murmu at the second civil investiture ceremony on June 23. The event will honor 65 eminent personalities, who were not part of the first phase of this year’s Padma Award presentations.

The second ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan after the first investiture ceremony last month, during which 66 awardees received the honour. Since the awards are presented within a limited formal program, the remaining recipients will be honored in a second phase.

Mammootty joins notable names from the film industry to receive Padma Bhushan. The actor has appeared in over 400 films in multiple languages ​​during his career spanning over five decades. He is also known for his contribution to social and charitable work.

R Madhavan will be honored with Padmashree. The actor, popularly known as Maddy, has had a successful career in television and cinema, starring in over 1,200 television episodes and 75 films in Tamil, Hindi and other languages. He has also been involved in agricultural ventures, including organic hydroponic farming in Mumbai and a coconut farm in Tamil Nadu.

Satish Shah, who will also receive the Padma Shri, is known for his work in theatre, television and films. He has enjoyed a career spanning over four decades and is known for his comic timing and memorable performances.

Meanwhile, Rajendra Prasad, who has been selected for the Padma Shri, is a veteran of Telugu cinema. He has acted in more than 286 films in six languages ​​in a career spanning four decades and is also recognized for his charitable work.

This year the President approved 131 Padma awards, which include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.

Announced every year on Republic Day, these awards recognize distinguished contributions in fields such as arts, literature, education, medicine, science, sports, public affairs, trade and industry, social work and civil services.

The ceremony on June 23 will conclude this year’s Padma Awards presentations, honoring achievers from various fields across the country.
