The padayatra, marking the reunion of actor Mammootty and director Adoor Gopalakrishnan after 32 years, is another step forward in the right direction. The film has officially completed its filming schedule in early March. A photo shared by the star’s label, Mammootty Kampani, was revealed announcing the completion of the shooting. As such, it is expected to be released later this year, although official confirmation from the makers is awaited.

An update was shared by the makers of Padayatra on their Instagram handle along with a photo of the cast and crew. “#PADYATRA PACK UP!!!!!! #Mammootty #AdoorGopalakrishnan #MammoottyCompany #WayfarerFilms," Read this. With the image, it was definitely confirmed that Grace Antony and Indrans will lead the project with Mammootty who will headline it.
Padayatra also stars Srishama Chandran, Alencier Le Lopez, Madhupal, Nandu, Zeenath and Professor Aliyar. Said to be about Dr. Devdas, played by Mammootty himself, the project will transform him into an urban businessman who follows Gandhian principles. It is reported that Indrans is playing the role of his assistant. The project is much-awaited by fans of the 74-year-old actor as it reunites him with Adoor Gopalakrishnan after more than three decades following the release of Vidheyan in 1994. He has also worked on Ananthram (1987) and Mathilukal (1990).
Earlier, it was revealed that Mammootty and Mohanlal’s upcoming film Patriot will also hit the theaters this year. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film will be released on April 23, 2026.
Mammootty was last seen in Kalamkaval, in which he played the role of Stanley Das, and then played a cameo role in Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies. He will also be seen in Ranjith’s upcoming untitled film, where he will reprise his iconic character Karikamuri Shanmukhan from the 2004 film Black.
