The Oppo Reno13 series is out and about it, so you are probably wondering which one to get. But unlike last year, this year’s Oppo Reno 13 and Oppo Reno 13 Pro are more different than you think. The standard Reno13 is clearly more compact solution, with a 6.59 inch performance small and as a result, it is light, small and narrow. It is also thin in theory, but there are a nuance in behavior.
Even though the pro is thick on paper, it seems thin in the hand. This is because in addition to thickness, a few millimeters come from bulging performance, while the frame is quite thin. Keep in mind that the front glass on the Reno13 Pro is slightly curved from all sides, so it is slightly bulging. In contrast, Vanilla Reno has a completely flat front glass panel.

Build-wise, practically no difference. Both devices use Gorilla Glass 7 Eye Protection on the front side, standard glass on the back and an aluminum frame around. The devices are even ip68/IP69-preserved.

There is compulsory difference in performance features – both have similar resolution, 10 -bit depth support, 120Hz refresh rates, and HDR10+ compatible.
The only real difference is the size, so the option is very clear. If you want more compact solutions, or want Reno13 Pro for large screen experience, get Reno13. According to today’s standards, 6.83-inch diagonal of Reno13 Pro is very large.
battery life
The Reno13 Pro has a 200 mAh larger battery compared to Reno13, but also a slightly larger performance. Two handsets share the same chipset, so do not count as a variable in the equation. At the end of the day, however, there is no difference in battery endurance, at least according to our tests.
The active use scores of both phones are very similar, with the Reno 13 out of their small performance, excludes the pro likeres. And this is quite clear from screen-on tests such as web browsing and video playback.
Either in case, you will get excellent battery life. Both devices are great artists in their respective price classes.

Two siblings are one of the fastest charging solutions in their classroom. They both support Oppo’s proprietary supervisor charging protocol and can only go from 0 to 100%. 42-43 minutesThere is no real world difference between the two, however.

While two handset speakers are equally loud, you can tell the difference in tuning. The sound of Reno13 is warm with more pronounced bass, but slightly muffer with vocals and high, while the Reno13 Pro presents a more balanced sound tuning.

So it is no surprise that there is no notable difference in performance. The small difference you see between the results is possibly due to statistical error.
Camera comparison
The largest feature of two Renos is within the gap camera hardware. While the 8MP ultravide camera coincides, the 50MP main sensor in the Reno13 Pro is quite large and adds 3.5x 50MP telephoto camera to the mixture.
On the front, the two brothers share the same 50mp selfie camera with AF.
We do not expect a massive difference in post-processing because they also share the same ISP and chipset.
image quality
On paper, the Reno13 Pro should distribute better -looking pictures with its main camera, but in fact, the difference is minute. To present the difference you have to keep a really close eye. When it comes to this right expansion, Pro has a minor advantage, but it is about it. It also goes to better present to red and blue, making the photos of daylight a little vibrant, but the overall color is not enough in case of saturation. Surprisingly, there are more balanced highlights in non-ex-flow.

The ultravide unit on non-ex it provides the same quality, as expected, but slightly better color saturation.
We cannot see any inequality in 2x crop zoom photos, but the difference between 3.5x stils is night and day, which is to be expected.

Low-light photography goes to non-pro. Overall, the quality is the same, with Pro rendering a slightly more details, which can be caused by additional sharpness, but can produce silent colors. Although the vanilla does not offer the vibrancy of the Reno colors, it is still better than the Pro.

Ultravide quality and night rendering are similar.
There is no surprise here, 3.5x zoom photos at night are much better on Reno13 Pro.

video quality
Below, we have some framegrabs from videos taken by two phones at each focal length, so it is easy to compare each other.
We did not find any meaningful difference of how these phones record videos. Overall, the quality is the same, the 13 Pro is a slightly better color with the main camera of the Pro. Low-light videos are accompanied by low exposure, which makes the shadow dark and more balanced. In addition, there is nothing to note.

We had an interesting discovery, though. It cannot record 4K videos using its telephoto to Reno13 Pro. Zoom to 3.5x crops from the main camera, so we also recorded 1080p videos. It is quite clear that 1080p videos are much better than the 3.5x zoom camera dedicated to the Reno13 Pro.

Decision
As you can see, both devices are similar to each other, but the Pro pulls forward with a little better speakers and a more versatile camera system. This would be a more desirable option for anyone in search of a large screen experience. Therefore, if you need that 3.5x telephoto camera and additional screen real estate, the price difference will be justified.
However, Vanilla Reno 13 will give you the same user experience at a low price, making it a more intelligent option. Especially if you are in more compact form factors.
