Oppo is set to release its next-gen foldable smartphone – the Oppo Find N5 in China. The launch is scheduled for February 2025. Earlier, the company had claimed that this foldable would be the world’s thinnest and now, it has added further context to the thinness of the upcoming phone. Before we get into the details, it’s important to know that the Oppo Find N5 will most likely be rebadged as the OnePlus Open 2. Latest reports suggest that the OnePlus Open 2 will launch by the second half of 2025.

President of overseas marketing at Oppo, Billy Zhang posted on X (formerly Twitter), comparing the upcoming Oppo Find N5 to the iPad Pro M4 model. For perspective, the M4 iPad Pro is the thinnest device in the Apple-verse so far, thanks to a 5.1mm thickness. And now Oppo is claiming that it is bringing a Fold that is slimmer by more than 5.1mm. While this sounds impressive, you should know that this thickness is when the device is unfolded.

Oppo’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, also posted on X, sharing a better comparison. However, here the Oppo Find N5 is compared with the iPhone, which looks a lot like the iPhone 16 Pro. Therefore, we can guess that when folded, the N5 aka OnePlus Open 2 Find will be as thin as the iPhone 16 Pro.

Leaks about the Oppo N5, also known as the OnePlus Open 2, have generated interest with reports pointing to significant upgrades over its predecessor. The device is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is a notable jump from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip found in the original OnePlus Open.

The device is expected to include a foldable display with 2K+ resolution, offering a premium viewing experience. Camera upgrades are speculated, with a 50-megapixel triple-lens setup that could incorporate a circular periscope telephoto lens, potentially enhancing the 3x optical zoom capability of its predecessor. Additionally, the Open 2 may feature 3-stage wireless charging, which is a practical feature thanks to its larger foldable design.

In terms of aesthetics, the foldable is rumored to feature a slimmer, lighter frame, with material options including plain leather and glass for a more sophisticated and modern look. These enhancements suggest that OnePlus is ready to compete strongly in the Open 2 foldable market.

The company has confirmed the maximum wireless charging speed on the OPPO Find N5 is 50W. This indicates that even though the phone comes with a slim profile, the battery cannot be compromised.
