Openai has introduced a mild version of its deep research tool. It is now available to all Chatgpt users – including plus, team, pro and even free users. Openai says that the lighter version is based on the company’s O4-Mini model and is being released for free to increase the current rate limit.

Openai’s new lightweight research tool is not advanced as the original deep research version. However, the company says it is almost intelligent and capable that is enough to do live online research and collect data on the Internet. It also puts less load on Openai’s llms and is quite cheap to run.

Openai says that the reactions from the lighter version of the deep research tool will usually be low, but still provide meaningful insights. The company noted in a post on X (East Twitter), “The reactions will usually be reduced by maintaining the depth and quality you expect.”

What is the deep research of Openai?

Openai introduced its new deep research tool earlier this year. It is built on a version of the upcoming O3 model of Openai, which is specifically tuned for web browsing and data interpretation. Unlike GPT-4o, which is better suited for quick interaction and real-time interaction, Openai says that intensive research means to detailed tasks, which require extended processing, reference gathering and fact-fronts.

In simple terms, deep research is an AI-operated agent designed to help users collect information on the web. Once a user presents a query in the deep research option available in Chatgpt – such as a product comparison or market observation – AI tool discovers online sources, analyzes the material, and provides a structured report to users.

However, with all search and compilation, deep research tools can move between 5 to 30 minutes depending on the complexity of the query. This tool also provides a summary of users the steps taken by them and cite the sources used in the final report. Users can continue other tasks while running the process in the background.

Now, the lighter version is also able to do research and reach the web, which is accompanied by boundaries and with low load on the system.

How to use deep research chat Tools?

To use deep research tools, select ‘Deep Research’ from the message musician in chat and type your query. You can also upload relevant files like spreadsheet or PDF to give additional reference to AI around your query.

Openai has stated that it is planning to add more features such as visual elements such as charts and data visualizations for future updates of deep research to make it easier to explain reports.

Increased use limit

Meanwhile, with the introduction of mild deep research, Openai has also included the limit for equipment:

– Chatgpt free users now get five deep research questions per month

– Chatgpt Plus, Team, Enterprise and Education Users will get 25 queries per month

– Chatgpt Pro users can run up to 250 queries

Once a user hits its range for a full version, the system will automatically switch to a light version without any interruption. Meanwhile, enterprises and education accounts are expected to have access to a lighter version next week, with the same limit as team accounts.
