OnePlus Nord 4 Review

Introduction and description

As OnePlus began to appeal more to the premium market, the need for a separate mid-range lineup grew. Now, we’re into the fourth generation of Nord phones, which maintain a relatively competitive price point while offering most of the things OnePlus is known for – fast charging, competitive performance, and fluent, feature-rich software.

However, with the Nord 4, OnePlus is adding another major selling point to the mix this year without hiking the prices and that is the attractive design.

The company is particularly proud of the metal unibody design (though there’s still some glass on the back) and we can understand why. The phone feels good and looks good, but most importantly, it’s reminiscent of the OnePlus 3 and 3T phones with aluminum chassis. OnePlus said it had to overcome several hurdles to use an aluminum casing for the phone, but more on that later.

Apart from its great design, the device also has great hardware. The device is built with a 6.74-inch 120Hz OLED panel, carried over from last year’s Nord 3, and is powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset.

The new Nord also features a new Sony LYT-600 sensor, which replaces the older IMX890 unit for the main camera. Whether this change makes any notable difference remains to be seen.

Last but not least, the OnePlus Nord 4 makes a big improvement in the battery department. The new unit powering the Nord 4 is bigger than the previous one and charges faster. It has a 5,500 mAh battery (higher than the industry standard, usually 5,000 mAh) and 100W SuperVOOC fast charging support.

Unboxing the OnePlus Nord 4

The OnePlus Nord 4 comes in a fairly standard retail box with the usual user manual and a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer.

However, like other recent releases from Oppo, the Nord 4 doesn’t come with a proper proprietary 100W SuperVOOC charger. You’ll need to buy it separately.
