Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is one of the most celebrated personalities in the Telugu film industry. The actor-producer has always tried to find successful scripts for himself and has made a big place for himself in the industry. Kalyan surprised almost everyone with his 2022 period drama film Bimbisara, which not only garnered a lot of accolades but also mesmerized everyone.
Now, on the joyous occasion of Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s 46th birthday, the makers of Bimbisara have announced a prequel to the film.

The official makers of Bimbisara took to their social media platform Instagram and shared a poster of the upcoming film which is tentatively titled NKR 22. In the caption, the makers also extended warm birthday wishes to NDK.
Making the announcement, the makers wrote, “Get ready to witness the greatness of a colossus who ruled Trigarthala many ages before Bimbisara in #NKR22 – a prequel to the blockbuster #Bimbisara. Happy Birthday, #NANDAMURIKALYANRAM Exciting updates coming soon!”
Soon after the news broke online, fans expressed their excitement and happiness about the announcement of the upcoming prequel in their comments section.
A fan wrote, “This time Bimbisarudu is coming back with more violence.” Another user wrote, “Happy birthday. God bless you sir.” A user also said, “This is so shocking, I didn’t expect it. This is going to be huge NKR sir. Happy birthday.”
The project is directed by Anil Paduri, director of the 2021 Telugu film Romantic, who has replaced the director of Bimbisara. NDK 22 is bankrolled by Kosaraju Harikrishna under the banner of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Arts.

The plot revolves around 500 BC, where an evil king Bimbisara is sent to the new age and trapped in a mirror after being betrayed by his brother.
Later, the plot revolves around Devadatta and his struggle to escape from the trap and return to his era and kingdom as King Bimbisara.
This fantasy action film stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the lead role along with Samyuktha, Catherine Tresa, Prakash Raj, Vennela Kishore, Vivan Bhathena, Srinivasa Reddy, Brahmaji and many others in pivotal roles.
The music and background score were composed by Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani in collaboration with Chirantan Bhatt. Cinematography was handled by Chota K Naidu. The editing section was overseen by Tammiraju, while the film was written and directed by Malladi Vasishta.
Financed by Kosaraju Harikrishna under the banner of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Arts, Bimbisara was released theatrically on August 5, 2022, in the Telugu language.
