Nikki Glaser shines a light on pay equality at the Golden Globes, a day after hosting the glittering event. The comedian appeared on The Howard Stern Show on Monday, January 6 and claimed she was paid less than previous male hosts. However, he said it was okay because he would have done this work without any pay.
“I get paid well — I’m good at it,” Glaser, 40, said Monday. “There was a former host who mentioned in his monologue how much he got paid, and I got less than that, but that’s OK. Next year I will get more.”
“I feel well paid for what I do. I am fine,” she added.
According to the New York Post, Glaser was referring to Jerrod Carmichael, who hosted Gigi in 2023. During his monologue, the 37-year-old claimed he was paid $500,000 for his stint.
Other stars to host the Golden Globes in the past include Jo Koy (2024), Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (2021), Ricky Gervais (2020), Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh (2019), and Seth Meyers (2018).
Gervais, who has hosted the prestigious awards show five times, told THR in 2020 that he gets paid well for the work, but he didn’t disclose how much. He also said that money is not the motivating factor behind any job he commits to.
“I have enough money. I told my agent, ‘I won’t do anything for money that I wouldn’t do for free.’ “Please never say that again,” he shared.
Glaser made history as the first woman to solo host the annual awards show. He was praised for his 10-minute monologue, where he mocked Nicole Kidman, Benny Blanco, Wicked, Joker 2, Timothée Chalamet and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
