New leak reveals Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL software, storage, charging details
A fresh leak has revealed the software, storage, and charging details of the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series, which is set to launch in August.

The Google Pixel 9 series is set to launch in August and a new leak has revealed its key specifications. Storage, software, and charging details of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL have been revealed. Although these leaks appear to be reliable, we should wait for the official launch to confirm the features. Notably, the Pixel 9 series is expected to offer up to 7 years of software updates, which is impressive. Overall, the leaked specifications suggest that the Pixel 9 series will be an attractive option for consumers looking for long-term software support. Let’s take a detailed look at the specifications.
The Pixel 9 family is set to break some long-standing traditions in Google’s Pixel lineup. Traditionally, new Pixel models have launched in October and come with the latest version of Android pre-installed. However, the Pixel 9 series is rumoured to launch in August, running on Android 14 instead of the anticipated Android 15. This change is likely due to Android 15 not being ready until late August, mirroring a similar delay that happened with Android 14 last year.
The Pixel 9 lineup will include three models – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. All three models will start with 128GB of storage. The Pixel 9 will come with 12GB of RAM, while the Pro version will have 16GB. Additionally, the Pixel 9 will offer 256GB storage option, and the Pro models will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants to cater to users with different storage needs.
According to GSMareana, charging capabilities will also see significant improvements. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro will be able to charge up to 55 percent in 30 minutes, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL will reach 70 percent in the same time frame. These charging speeds will be achieved using a new Google 45W USB-C charger, which will be available at launch. Currently, Google only offers a 30W USB-C charger. For comparison, the Pixel 8 Pro, which the Pixel 9 Pro XL will replace, can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes with a 30W charger.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a 5,060 mAh battery, which will be slightly larger than the 5,050 mAh battery in the Pixel 8 Pro. Google will also promise 24 hours of battery life for all models, which can be extended up to 100 hours using Extreme Battery Saver mode.
These advancements reflect Google’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience with faster charging, larger storage options, and better battery life. The Pixel 9 series appears to be a promising upgrade, even if it deviates from the traditional Pixel launch timeline and software expectations.
