Neha Bhasin on battling personality disorder: My nervous system feels shattered
Singer Neha Bhasin shared an emotional post on Instagram and revealed that she has been diagnosed with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD).

Singer Neha Bhasin recently opened up about her health challenges and personal struggles. In an emotional social media post, the ‘Jag Ghumeya’ singer shared about suffering from premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD). Although fibromyalgia was diagnosed two years ago, she had been worried about her overall health for a long time.
Bhasin began her Instagram post with a candid and heartfelt reflection on her struggles. “There’s so much I want to say but I don’t really know where to begin or how to consolidate the helpless hell I’ve been experiencing. After knowing for years that something was wrong. Finally today with greater awareness medically comes the diagnosis (on papers for 2 years, I’ve known since I was 20) which helps get the right treatment for mental and hormonal ailments and with all this comes the major realisation and then acceptance that at least for now my nervous system feels broken (sic),” read an excerpt from her statement.
Neha Bhasin, who is a strong advocate of body positivity, elaborated on a variety of symptoms in her post, including chronic fatigue, physical and emotional pain, recurring bouts of anxiety and depression. She also addressed past trauma, unhealthy eating habits, sleep disturbances, and the importance of therapy as part of her ongoing journey.
“My monthly PMDD still finds a way to throw me into the same old dark hole or dig several new ones. Is this my failure? My OCPD asks.. My doctor calls it fibromyalgia which I am now accepting.. I have exercised. Danced, performed, put up with the pain for years thinking I was just tight so I overstretched. My therapist said to do nothing for a while. Rest,” she confessed.
Ending her post with an emotional message, Neha Bhasin emphasised that she is neither a victim nor a winner but was simply sharing her experience in the hopes of finding comfort and connection.
