K-pop idol Moon Tae-il is no longer a member of the popular K-pop group NCT 127. On August 28, SM Entertainment made the announcement, stating that the decision was made in light of serious allegations involving a sexual crime against Tae-il.

In their official statement, SM Entertainment revealed that the action was taken due to the ongoing investigation of the case. However, they stressed that the details of the investigation are being kept confidential to protect the privacy and integrity of the process.

SM Entertainment wrote, “This is SM Entertainment. We recently confirmed that Taeil has been implicated in a criminal case involving sexual offenses. Looking into the situation, we found that the issue is very serious, and we have decided that Taeil can no longer continue the team’s activities. We have discussed the matter with Taeil and it has been decided that he will be removed from the group.”

The statement further states that Taeil is currently cooperating with the police. SM has also apologized on the artist’s behalf. Following the news, Taeil’s fellow band members have unfollowed him on social media.

For those who don’t know, the musician recently returned after a short hiatus and took part in the promotions of his comeback single ‘Walk’. He made his debut with NCT in April 2016 through NCT U and debuted with NCT 127 in July 2016.

Apart from his work with NCT, he has also sung OSTs for dramas such as ‘Twenty-Five Twenty-One’, ‘Missing Crown Prince’.
