Nayanthara’s lawyer reacts to Dhanush’s legal notice, says ‘No violation’
The legal team of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan has responded to the notice filed by actor Dhanush. They had reportedly initiated legal action against the couple’s Netflix documentary for using unauthorized clips from their film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
Actors Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s lawyers have reacted to Dhanush’s legal action. Earlier, Dhanush had filed a civil suit against Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, over the use of a three-second clip from their production, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, in his Netflix docu-drama, Nayanthara: Beyond Fairytale.
Nayanthara’s lawyer has responded to the legal notice, stating that there has been no copyright infringement. Rahul Dhawan, managing partner of Lex Chambers, which represents Nayanthara, Vignesh and their production house, Rowdy Pictures Pvt Ltd, said the footage in question is from a private library and is not behind-the-scenes material from the film.
“Our response is that there is no infringement or violation because what we used in the docu-series is not part of the behind the scenes (from the film). It is part of the personal library. Therefore, it is not a violation. is”, quoted Hindustan TimesThe next hearing in Madras High Court is expected to be held on Monday 2 December.
The Ryan actor’s legal team issued a statement demanding Nayanthara to remove the infringing content within 24 hours. Failure to comply will result in legal action, including a possible claim for damages of Rs 10 crore against Nayanthara and Netflix India.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, was released on Netflix on her birthday, November 18. Before the release, Nayanthara had written a scathing open letter to Dhanush after he refused to issue NOC (No Objection Certificate) for the usage. Naanum Rowdy Dhaan Clips Ki.
