Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala got engaged recently after two years of secret dating. Following their engagement, the Thandel actor’s father Nagarjuna shared some details about the couple’s upcoming wedding. In a recent interview, the veteran actor expressed his excitement about welcoming Sobhita into his family and explained the reason behind choosing August 8 as the engagement date.
During the interview with Times Now, Nagarjuna expressed his happiness for his son, he mentioned that Shobhita and Chaitanya are a wonderful couple, who love each other very much. He also explained why August 8 was chosen as the engagement date, he said that both the families had consulted the astrological charts and found that the date is very auspicious. This was the reason they decided to go ahead with the ceremony on that day.
When asked about the wedding date, Nagarjuna clarified that it would not happen immediately. The engagement was planned in a hurry as the date was auspicious and since Chaitanya and Shobhita were sure about their commitment to each other, the families decided to go ahead without delay.
He said, “Not immediately. We decided to get engaged in a hurry because it was an auspicious day, and since Chay and Shobhita were absolutely convinced that they wanted to get married, we thought, let’s do it.”
The actor also revealed that the engagement was a happy occasion for both the families, with Shobhita’s family especially liking Chaitanya. He added that his son, whom he described as a gem, truly deserves happiness.
Interestingly, Nagarjuna revealed that he knew Sobhita even before he met Chaitanya. He recalled that he first saw her work in Adivi Sesh’s film Goodachari six years ago and was impressed by her talent. Over the years, they had several discussions on various topics including cinema, life and philosophy, which made him see Sobhita as an informed and insightful person.
The engagement ceremony, held in Hyderabad on Thursday, was attended by close family members including Naga Chaitanya’s brother Akhil Akkineni, mother and Nagarjuna’s ex-wife Lakshmi Daggubati and his step-mother Amala.
