Naomi Watts recently recalled her days working with David Lynch and how the late director helped her film career.
The King Kong actress appeared on Live with Kelly & Mark to discuss her past experiences and how the Eraserhead director played an important role in her life.
Saying that David Lynch was “very supportive” of her in those days and also played a role in her deciding to stay in America, the Painted Veil actress noted, “If I hadn’t met David Lynch I wouldn’t have stayed there. “
Speaking with show host Kelly Ripa and guest co-host Anderson Cooper, Naomi Watts She explained that for about ten years she was having great difficulty getting roles in films, as she was “failing at auditions.”
The Eastern Promises actress revealed that she was even considering going home. However, he then received a call from David Lynch.
Naomi Watts said, “In short, David Lynch called me and he has a very different way of casting.” He said David Lynch sat him down, looked him in the eyes and asked him questions.

The Ring actress even believed she wasn’t funny or sexy and thought she was too old. Despite all his concerns, the director helped him lift all the “clades”.
Eventually, Naomi Watts got a leading role in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive. Subsequently, the director not only became a great mentor but also a close friend of the actress.
David Lynch died on January 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Just last year, Lynch revealed that she had been diagnosed with emphysema after a lifetime of smoking.
