Mukesh Khanna on making Ranveer Singh wait for 3 hours: He sat because he wanted to
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna recently recounted an incident when Bollywood star Ranveer Singh waited for three hours to meet him to get his approval to play the role of Shaktimaan.
In a recent press conference, Mukesh Khanna addressed the rumors that he had made actor Ranveer Singh wait for hours in his office to discuss the role of Shaktimaan.
In response, Khanna clarified, “No. I didn’t force him to wait. He sat for three hours because he wanted to. He came to my office. We enjoyed each other’s company. He is a brilliant actor, he has tremendous energy. But I decide who will play the role of Shaktimaan. The producers cast the actors; An actor cannot cast a producer. You come into my office and say you want to become Shaktiman, that’s not allowed!”
Khanna shared his views on what it takes to portray Shaktimaan, and questioned the notion that only a big name can play the role. “You will say that a big name is needed to play Shaktimaan, but that is not true. To play Shaktimaan you need to have a face. Tell me, why didn’t Akshay Kumar convince Prithviraj Chauhan? He wore a wig and a fake moustache,” Mukesh Khanna said.
The veteran actor subsequently posted a statement on Have been.
“I have come to clarify the misconception that a section of my audience has that through this song and press conference I have come to announce to the world that I will be the next Shaktimaan. Absolutely wrong. Let me explain,” he said.

Khanna further said, “First of all why should I say that I will be the next Shaktimaan. I am already powerful. The second will be powerful only when someone is powerful. And I am that powerful. There can be no other power without me. Because as Shaktimaan, I have to build Shaktimaan’s legacy. Secondly, I am not here to prove or show that I am better than Ranveer Singh or anyone who plays Shaktimaan. Be the next Shaktimaan.”
Mukesh Khanna’s disagreement with Ranveer Singh playing the character of Shaktimaan is nothing new. The veteran actor had earlier also said that Ranveer is a brilliant actor, but he is not fit to play the character of Shaktimaan.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh was recently seen in Singham Again, which also stars Deepika Padukone, Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in important roles.
