Motorola has launched the new Moto G85 smartphone in India, priced under Rs 20,000. It has Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC and has features that one would expect from a budget phone. It will compete with phones like the CMF Phone 1, which is priced at around the same price. Since there is only a price difference of Rs 2,000 between the two phones, people are confused about which phone will be better for them. Well, we have got you covered. Here is a detailed comparison of the new Moto G85 and the CMF Phone 1.

Moto G85 vs CMF Phone 1: India price compared

The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the new Moto G85 smartphone is priced at Rs 17,999. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model will be sold for Rs 19,999.

The CMF Phone 1 has a starting price of Rs 15,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will cost you Rs 17,999 on Flipkart. Nothing is selling the accessories separately. You will have to spend extra on the lanyard, stand, and card holder, each of which cost Rs 799. The removable back cover is being sold in different colours, including blue, black, orange, and light green, each priced at Rs 1,499. The company is saying that people can buy the phone charger for Rs 799.

Moto G85 vs CMF Phone 1: Design

The Moto G85 has a vegan leather finish back panel, which includes a slightly raised rectangular camera module. It has two cameras on the back. Its design is very minimalistic which looks premium at this price.

Nothing offers a stunning, unique design with the CMF Phone 1. It looks great even in the black colour model. The device features a removable back cover design. The company says that those who want a new refreshing look every few months can simply change the back cover instead of buying a new device or resorting to different cases. The back cover, which is sold separately, comes with a screwdriver that lets you remove the back panel of the device. There is also a wheel at the bottom and it does not spin for fidgeting and instead, you can attach a lanyard to it or a small stand that Nothing is selling separately.

Moto G85 vs CMF Phone 1: Display

The Moto G85 sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz Full HD+ curved pOLED screen. The CMF Phone 1 sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED 120Hz flat display with a normal brightness of up to 700nits and a maximum brightness of 2000nits.

The Moto G85’s display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, unlike the CMF Phone 1. The Nothing phone stands out with its superior AMOLED panel compared to the Moto G85’s pOLED panel. Furthermore, the CMF Phone 1’s LTPS panel is more power-efficient than the G85’s standard screen, and it offers an adaptive refresh rate that adjusts according to the content to further conserve power.

Moto G85 vs CMF Phone 1: Chipset, speakers, software, IP rating

The Moto G85 uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 6S Gen 3 chipset, and the Nothing CMF phone has a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC. Benchmarks have revealed that people will get faster performance from the CMF Phone 1 compared to this Motorola smartphone. The Nothing phone scored 6,53,782 points on AnTuTu, while the Moto G85 scored 4,84,000 points on the same platform. The AnTuTu test is an all-in-one benchmark test that analyzes the device’s CPU, GPU, memory, and storage.

Nothing is promising Android OS upgrades for 2 years and security patches for three years. The device is currently running on Android 14 and this announcement means that the CMF phone will also be eligible to receive Android 16 OS. Motorola is also offering Android OS upgrades for 2 years but security patches for four years. An extra year of security support doesn’t matter here as people will get slightly faster performance on Nothing phones in the long run.

Both phones come with an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics. The Motorola device has a dual speaker setup and the CMF phone has a single speaker at the bottom. The speakers on both phones have support for Dolby Atmos. The smartphones are also IP52-rated, which means they can survive water splashes and won’t get damaged in rainy weather.

Since we are still testing the new Motorola phone, we won’t be able to comment on its camera performance right now. As we have already reviewed the CMF Phone 1, we can say that this phone can deliver good (attractive) camera shots in daylight. You can check out the camera samples of the CMF Phone in our detailed review on the website.

The Moto G85 has a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary Sony LTIA 600 sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. For selfies, it has a 32-megapixel front camera.

For photography, it has a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup. There is a 2-megapixel depth sensor along with the main sensor. There is a 16-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

Moto G85 vs CMF Phone 1: Battery, charging

The Nothing phone and Moto G85 have a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. Motorola provides a charger with the phone, while Nothing does not provide a charger in the retail box with the smartphone. Therefore, for CMF phones, it will have to be purchased separately.
