Vicky Kaushal, Rashamika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna starring Chhawa, proved to be a juggling at the box office. The historic drama directed by Laxman Utekar is set to be purified by Rs 500 crore in India later this week. With such a terrible run, the film emerged as the most profitable film of 2025.
Given its trends, the period drama based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is likely to collect more than Rs 550 crore during its lifetime. Gross gross worldwide can be around Rs 750 crore by the end of its dramatic run.
Apart from Chhawa, no film can bag a clean hit decision at the box office so far. Despite being finished as a flop/disaster at the box office, some low-budget films became beneficial for the producers, thanks to the non-rich returns.
All eyes are now on the fate of the box office of John Abraham’s The Diplomat and Salman Khan’s Alexander. While the former is releasing in theaters at the end of this week and is expected to open less, the Eid will later be released on 2025 weekends. It will be interesting to see how these films perform at the box office. For The Anward, the Salman Khan film has already recovered 80% of its production cost by non-patrical returns.
