Kamal Haasan and Sridevi starrer Moondram Pirai was originally released in theaters on February 19, 1982. 44 years after its theatrical release, the film is now all set to debut on OTT for the first time.

Moondram Pirai is the story of a woman named Bhagyalakshmi who falls into a child-like mental state due to retrograde amnesia after a car accident. She ends up in a brothel, but is rescued by Cheenu, a lonely school teacher who takes care of her. This creates a deep emotional bond between them, as she believes she is a child.
The story then traces how their relationship evolves and whether Bhagyalakshmi eventually regains her former self.

Written, shot and directed by Balu Mahendra, the film was produced by G Thiagarajan and G Saravanan under the banner of Satya Jyothi Films. The music and background score was composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and the film was edited by D Vasu.
Kamal Haasan’s work front
Kamal Haasan He was last seen in the lead role in Thug Life directed by Mani Ratnam. Co-starring Silambarasan TR, the film tells the story of an aging gangster who hands over his empire to his foster son before going to jail.
However, upon returning, he finds himself out of place as his foster son has taken over the gang, leading to animosity between them. The situation worsens when the entire gang turns against him and tries to kill him. After surviving, he sets out to take revenge on those who betrayed him.
Apart from KH and STR, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Nassar, Joju George and others in lead roles.
Looking ahead, Haasan will next be seen in the tentatively titled KH237, directed by Anbarivu duo and written by Syam Pushkaran. He is also set to collaborate with Rajinikanth on a project tentatively titled KHxRK reunion.
