Megadeath announces retirement: Dave Mustine confirmed the final album for metal fans around the world and the epic 2026 farewell tour

The American Thrash Metal Legends Megadeath has confirmed that he will release one last album and will be on a farewell tour in 2026. Founder and Frontman Dave Mustain shared the news in a statement on Thursday 14 August, marking the end of the band’s four -decade career.

“There are many musicians who have come at the end of their career, whether it is accidental or intentionally.” “Most of them do not get to go out on their terms at the top, and this is where I am in my life. I have traveled to the world and have earned millions on millions of fans and the most difficult part of all this is saying goodbye to them.”

Final album and farewell tour details have not yet appeared

While the band has confirmed its plans, Megadeth has not yet announced a complete list of the final album title, the date of release, or the visits for its farewell run. According to the New York Post, Mustine called it a “right time” to release its last album and last the world.

“Don’t be crazy, don’t be sad, be happy for all of us, celebrate with me in the next few years,” he wrote. “We have done something together that is really amazing and maybe never again.”

Mustine showed the influence of megadeth over the years, creating the band with shaping metal music and the guitarist’s inspirational generations. “We started a music style, we started a revolution, we changed the world of guitar and how it is played, and we changed the world,” he said. “The bands I have played in have impressed the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.”

The announcement followed a teaser post shared by the band on Wednesday, August 13, stating that “The End Is near …” speculation among fans before official confirmation.

Formed in 1983 after Mustain left Metalica, Megadeth quickly became one of the most impressive acts of Thrash metal. Band’s first album, Killing is my business … and business is good! It was released in 1985, establishing a platform for a career, which would produce several platinum albums, Grammy win and selling tour worldwide.
