How do lentils benefit your health?

Masoor dal, also known as red lentils, is a staple in Indian kitchens. Apart from its taste, there are many other reasons why you should include it in your diet.

1. Keeps your blood sugar under control

Masoor dal is rich in dietary fibre and has a low glycemic index. This helps slow down digestion and prevents sudden spikes in blood sugar levels. This is why it is a great option for people with diabetes or blood sugar issues, as it helps them regulate insulin production naturally.

2. Prevents cholesterol from increasing

Have heart problems? Add masoor dal to your diet! Since it is high in fibre, masoor dal can help reduce cholesterol levels in the body. It improves blood flow by removing excess cholesterol and supports healthy functioning of the heart.

3. It can help you lose excess weight

Masoor dal has the right balance of low fat and carbs, which helps in making you feel full. This in turn helps you lose weight. Its high fibre content slows down digestion, making it an ideal food choice for people who are keeping an eye on their weight.

4. Gives you youthful skin

Masoor dal is rich in antioxidants, which help reduce cell damage and boost the immune system. It is a great food if you want to maintain supple and youthful skin.

5. Keeps eye problems away

Did you know that masoor dal is rich in vitamins A, C and E, making it an essential food for healthy vision? Its regular consumption can help keep problems like cataracts and muscle wasting at bay.
