An unruly air passenger on a Copa Airlines flight who attempted to open the emergency door mid-flight was beaten and restrained by fellow passengers. according to New York Post, This incident happened on Tuesday on a flight from Brazil to Panama. according to PostPhotojournalist Cristiano Carvalho witnessed the man’s attempt to open the door 30 minutes before landing. “One flight attendant started screaming and the other tried to stop her, but he couldn’t because he was too strong,” he said.

The 51-year-old man said passengers came to his rescue and fought with the man to stop him from opening the emergency door of the plane. “They beat him very badly until he was almost unconscious,” Mr Carvalho described.

In a statement, Copa Airlines claimed that after landing in Panama “a national security team entered the plane and deboarded the passenger and took him to judicial authorities”.
