Annu Kapoor speaks on intimate scenes in Bollywood!
Annu said, “I have seen actors get agitated during intimate scenes and don’t stop even when the director says cut. Many people take advantage of such situations, but I never did that. During one such scene, the hero got carried away. He didn’t stop even after saying ‘cut’. The actress had to struggle to get away and run away. She was so shaken that she didn’t come out of her room for two days.”
Although he did not name the people involved, he mentioned that the female actor would confirm their details if needed.
Talking about how intimate scenes were handled in earlier times, Annu reflected on the lack of safety measures on film sets and stressed the importance of professionalism and consent.
“There were no intimacy coaches in our time. There were moments when people would take advantage of the situation during rehearsals. I’m always careful, using a few cues to understand the timing of a scene and when to stop, so that it can be easily completed in one go. At times, I’ve even checked in with my co-actor, just asking, ‘Are you okay?'”
7 On working with Priyanka Chopra in Khoon Maaf
The veteran actor also reflected on his experience of working with Priyanka Chopra in 7 Khoon Maaf directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. She told that a kissing scene was part of the script, but Priyanka was not comfortable doing it.
“Vishal said that this scene was written for some reason and could not be removed. Later, his team informed me that she was not comfortable. I did not make any issue, but somehow the news spread. I have always handled such scenes professionally. If an actress feels nervous, I just ask if she is okay. I don’t ask anything more than that as it might make her more uncomfortable.”
Recalling one such incident, Annu said that the actor continued working even after the shot was over, which upset the female co-actor. She shared that she struggled to separate and was so shaken by the incident that she stayed in her room for two days. Although she did not reveal the names of those involved, she said that the actress would confirm her statement if needed.
Earlier, during the same interview, Annu had also addressed the controversy of her “milky body” comment about Tamannaah Bhatia, saying that it was meant as a compliment. He said he would apologize to the actress if her comments hurt him in any way.
The comment was made during a 2025 interview with India Today’s sister channel, The Lallantop while discussing Bhatia’s performance in the song Aaj Ki Raat.
