Shalu Menon is a well-known name in Malayali households as she is quite popular in Malayalam films and television. She is also a dancer and runs a dance school in Kerala.
Eleven years ago, she was arrested in a case and had to spend 49 days in jail. However, the case was later withdrawn. During a recent interview, Shalu Menon opened up about the most difficult phase of her life.
Shalu Menon talks about her experience in jail
In the interview, Shalu Menon told that she did not get any special facilities in the jail and she also slept on the floor like the others. In difficult times, she got support only from her mother, grandmother and her students and their parents. No other relative supported her. However, after being released from jail, they reconciled.
Shalu also revealed in the interview that the case and imprisonment caused her to lose several film and serial offers. She recalled how this hurt her career as producers were scared to offer her roles due to her prison history.
However, despite this traumatic experience, he said that an artist is an artist and nobody can kill him. Menon is currently busy running his dance school and training his students.
Why was Shalu Menon arrested?
The solar scam was related to a company called Team Solar, which used two women to build their political network, including contacts with the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office, in 2013. They duped several influential people of Rs 70 lakh by promising them business partnerships or setting up solar power and collecting advances.
Shalu Menon was one of the accused in this high-profile case but was later acquitted due to lack of evidence against her.
Shalu Menon spoke about the videos that created a huge controversy
In 2009, some intimate videos of Shalu Menon were allegedly leaked online. According to Shalu, those videos were manipulated or morphed. People did not accept them as such at that time, but with the growing awareness about deepfake technology, things slowly changed. Shalu Menon further said that these videos cost her many opportunities in her career.
