plot
Set in the year 2040, Love Insurance CompanyAka LIK is the story of Vasu, also known as Vibe Vasi, who comes from a village called Pasum Ulagam (Organic World), where people live without technology, unlike other cities. Serving as the voice of an advanced romance-finder app, the company maintains that love can be found through algorithms, making it more about numbers and technology rather than emotions.
Amidst this journey, Vasu falls in love with Dhimma, even though the app predicts that their romance will never work out. Since their love story poses a threat to the system, the company decides to end Vasu and Dhimma’s relationship.
Whether technology drives them apart or their emotions bring them together is explored in the film.
What works for LIK
Love Insurance Company features a fun premise set in a futuristic world. There is a sense of richness and newness to the content, making it feel like an original venture from a writing perspective. Easter eggs and world-building make an impact early on and continue throughout the storytelling.
From a performance perspective, Pradeep Ranganathan Keeps his own. Although his character seems similar to his previous stylish roles, it has a charm that impresses the audience. His comic timing is impressive and his character feels relatable and easy to understand.
However, it is SJ Suryah who becomes the saving grace of the film with his excellent performance. As a light-hearted antagonist he balances the goofy tone of the film perfectly.
On the technical front, the concept works well, but it is Anirudh Ravichander Which really elevates the film. The songs and background score add significant value, providing magic through both peppy and melodious tracks.
Additionally, Ravi Varman once again showcased his talent by capturing stunning shots.
what doesn’t work
Despite having a strong concept and premise, the execution falters towards the end. The film struggles to maintain momentum, especially in the second half.
While the first half offers some mildly entertaining moments, the humor is inconsistent, which is worrying for a romantic comedy. As the film progresses, it becomes harder to enjoy, the script becomes overlong and relies on crude humor and cheesy moments that feel repetitive. Vignesh ShivanEarlier tropes.
Although the movie isn’t entirely bad, some moments feel underwhelming, and not in a good way. Mindlessness eventually becomes stale, making it difficult to persist. The execution, along with the poorly integrated AI elements, make parts of the film feel awkward and unrefined.
Additionally, the second half could have benefited from tighter editing instead of stretching it out too long.

Pradeep Ranganathan has delivered an entertaining performance, effectively balancing the character’s quirks. However, it still feels like a variation on his roles in films like Dude, Love Today or Dragon.
SJ Surya He turns out to be the highlight of the film, and makes a strong impact as soon as he appears, even if his presence is limited in the first half.
Kriti ShettyAs the co-lead, portrays a bubbly and slightly eccentric character. His chemistry with the hero is good and works in the film. The supporting actors like Yogi Babu and Seeman also deliver performance that lives up to the expectations.
