Ajith Kumar and director Vignesh Shivan were initially set to collaborate on a project tentatively titled AK62. However, the film was later shelved, and the filmmaker has now revealed why it was not produced despite spending 3-4 years on the script.

Speaking to Behindwoods, Vignesh Shivan Said, “It was my dream to work with Ajit Kumar sir. I worked on the script of the film for 3-4 years on my own, but the film was abandoned due to budget and production issues.”
The director further added, “The production team also suggested changes to be made in the second part. For example, director Prashant Neel had supported Hombale Films in his vision for KGF. I watched films like KGF, RRR and others, and expressed my desire to direct a film of that scale with Ajith sir, as I am his fan. However, the production did not support the budget that I had envisioned for the film.”
For those unaware, Ajith Kumar’s 62nd film was initially announced with Vignesh Shivan as the director. The project was made official with a poster, and Anirudh Ravichander was confirmed to compose the music and background score. However, the film was later reworked and Magis Thirumeni was brought on board as director. The project eventually became the action thriller Vidamuyarchi.
Vignesh Shivan’s choice
Vignesh Shivan recently returned to theaters Love Insurance Company (LIK). The sci-fi romantic comedy, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Kriti Shetty, is set in the year 2040. It is the story of a young man named Vasu, who falls in love with Dhimma in a world where people meet potential partners using algorithms and advanced technology.
The film explores whether technology prevails or whether true human emotions ultimately win. With SJ Suryya playing the role of the main antagonist, the film also stars Yogi Babu, Seeman, Gauri G Kishan and others in lead roles.
Ajit Kumar’s next film
Ajit Kumar He is next set to appear in the lead role in a film tentatively titled AK64. It has been confirmed that Adhik Ravichandran will direct the project, which is said to be an action entertainer and Sreeleela is expected to play the co-lead role. However, since the producer has not been selected yet, filming has not started.
