Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 launches with 12.1″ LCD with 9JBL speakers and Dolby Vision

The Lenovo Tab Plus was announced in mid-2024 and only had 8 JBL speakers – which might not be enough for some, so here comes a second-generation model with 9 JBL speakers.

Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 Supports Dolby Atmos – Dolby audio processing can be set to Dynamic, Movie and Music modes. Interestingly, it has a Bluetooth speaker mode if you want to play music from your phone louder than your phone’s speakers.

The Gen 2 model has a larger 12.1” LCD (up from 11.5”) with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. Its resolution is 2,560 x 1,600px and can reach 800 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM). The built-in kickstand helps position the display at a comfortable angle for watching movies. It can also rotate 360°, allowing you to prop the tablet in portrait orientation – better for video calls.

Inside is a 10,200mAh battery that can last up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming. It supports 45W charging, but there is no charger included in the box.

Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 is powered by Dimensity 7400 with 6/8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. There’s a microSD slot with support for cards up to 2TB if you prefer to store your media locally. The tablet launches with Android 16 and will receive two OS updates (to Android 18) and a total of 4 years of security patches (to 2030).

The USB-C port on the board only supports USB 2.0 speeds. Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 6 (AX) and Bluetooth 5.4.

As optional accessories, you can get the Tab Pen Plus Stylus and/or the Lenovo Wireless Keyboard. The bulky speaker array on the back means this isn’t the most portable 12.1″ tablet ever – it weighs 775 grams and measures 6.8mm at the thinnest parts and 22.7mm at the speaker bump. You’ll want to pick up the Lenovo Sleeve suit if you plan on carrying this tablet around.

The Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available soon in select markets for $400/£370. Google search shows pages in the UK, Australia and Singapore, but these currently redirect to a generic Lenovo tablet page. By the way, the tablet has already won the iF Design Award.
