Lahore 1947: Sunny Deol started shooting after a change in Aamir Khan
Following the creative input of actor Sunny Deol Aamir Khan, Lahore returned to shoot the final program of ‘Lahore 1947’. The release of the film has been postponed in 2026 to ensure better quality and vision.

Actor Sunny Deol is set to resume shooting for director Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Lahore 1947’. The team has decided to resume some parts of the film, as Aamir suggested some changes after seeing the first cut.
The ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’ actor recommended some changes as the creator of ‘Lahore 1947’, which Sunny and Santoshi agreed to implement, as reported by mid-day. The portal quoted a source as saying, “Sunny and Santoshi sir will shoot most of these newly formed sequences in real places in Punjab. The shoot will begin on October 10 and will last 12 days.”
When the film moved on the floor in February 2024, the producers were releasing 2025. However, after discussing the progress of the film with the team, it was unanimously decided a better quality product rather than a quick release.
An inner source shared, “But as Aamir, Sunny, and Santoshi sat down to discuss the progress of the film, they unanimously agreed that it was more important to have a better quality product than compromising on vision for a quick release.”
Under-production period-drama examines the emotional journey of those caught in the upheaval of the partition of India. While ‘Lahore 1947’ also includes Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, the upcoming leg will only include Deol, as members of other primary artists have said that they have completed shooting for their share.
Sunny was last seen in director Gopichand Malinni’s action-drama ‘Jat’ (2025). He will next be seen in director Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana – Part 1’ (2026), in which he portrays the character of Lord Hanuman. The film also includes Lord Rama as Ranbir Kapoor, Sile Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Ravi Dubey as Laxman and Yash as Ravana.
Aamir was last seen in his house-production ‘Sitare Zameen Paar’, a spiritual sequel to ‘Taare Zameen Paar’ (2007).
