Singer Kumar Sanu has questioned the industry for not getting enough opportunities to sing in films these days. The 90s star, who is regarded as the ‘Melody Ka Baadshah’, spoke in an interview and revealed how he gets immense love and respect from music directors, but sadly, none of it translates into work opportunities.

In an interview Hindustan TimesHe talked about becoming famous for his melodious songs in the last few years. He told that he does not know why today’s directors do not want to use his voice for playback. He said, “My trip is looking great so far (My journey so far has been great), everyone in the industry respects me. But the biggest thing is that people give us respect, love and also listen to our songs (However, the biggest problem is that people give me respect, love and appreciate my songs). I don’t know why they are not using my voice for Hindi film songs.”

He questioned their ‘love’ and asked why the same people cannot give him some work. Sanu, famous for songs like ‘Chura ke dil mera’, ‘Jeeta tha jice liye’, ‘Nazar ke saamne’, ‘Saanson ki zaroorat’, ‘Main duniya bhula doonga’, said sometimes he wonders if this love is true or not.

He said, “this question comes in mind (I always think about it). When they are in front of me and show so much love (then why not ask me to sing). I don’t know if it’s true or not. Whatever it is, they definitely give respect.”

Sanu may have stayed away from mainstream Bollywood playback singing, but he has been performing in successful stage shows across the world. He recently performed in sold-out shows in the USA and Canada. He last sang for Rajkummar Rao in the Netflix film ‘Guns and Roses’ and for Manav Kaul in the ‘Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper’ series.
