Kharbanda posted a screenshot of the fraudulent WhatsApp conversation on Instagram Stories, clarifying that the number used was not his. In her message, she said, “Not OK. Not cool. Not my number. Pretending to be someone you’re not is clearly a case of identity theft. Be careful,” making it clear that any messages from the number should be considered fraudulent.

The screenshots include a conversation where the recipient replied, ‘This is not his number,’ to which the impersonator replied, ‘I sent the message from this Baba.’ The incident highlights the growing problem of digital impersonation, particularly targeting public figures.
Kharbanda’s warning comes as similar incidents have hit other celebrities. Rakul Preet Singh, Sunny Leone and Abhinav Shukla have reported cases of impersonators attempting to contact fans or use their identities for fraudulent purposes. Reflecting on these threats, Abhinav Shukla said, “Fraudsters are evolving faster than us; they have a new trick up their sleeve every time. Even though I am a public person, I am an introvert at heart, so I don’t share too much online, but in cases where people are impersonating you, no matter how careful one is, you get caught in these scams. One can only try to be alert and Can avoid sharing personal information online.”
