Konkona Sen Sharma has unfollowed viral satire account Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a move that has quickly become a talking point on social media. She was among several celebrities including Anurag Kashyap, Dia Mirza and Esha Gupta who followed the account, but it seems she is the only celebrity so far who has unfollowed it.

CJP is a fictional, satire-inspired political movement created by digital strategist Abhijeet Dubke. It gained huge popularity online in May 2026 after a satirical response to comments made by Chief Justice Surya Kant and currently operates through two separate social media accounts.

Scrutiny of the list of party followers revealed that Metro…in Dino’s The actor initially followed the account. Later his name was missing from the followers list, indicating that he had unfollowed it.

The movement runs through non-verified and verified accounts. While the non-verified account has around 19.2 million followers, the verified account has around 825,000 followers. Before unfollowing Konkana was following a non-verified account.

Apart from Konkana, television actor Abhishek Nigam has also unfollowed the party’s account.

Celebrities who follow CJP

Those following the party’s official Instagram handle include filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actors Dia Mirza, Esha Gupta and Fatima Sana Shaikh, director Kunal Kohli and comedian Kunal Kamra. TV personalities including Umar Riaz, Ufa Javed, Himanshi Khurana and Sheezaan Khan have also joined the online conversation around the fictional political organisation.

What is CJP?

Cockroach Janata Party recently went viral on social media after the Chief Justice of India made controversial remarks comparing young Indians to “cockroaches” and “parasites”, sparking widespread outrage online. After this Dubke started a meme-driven political satire movement.

At the time, Dipke was reportedly applying for jobs in Boston. The response to the comments helped the movement quickly gain momentum, attracting millions of followers within days. What started as an internet joke later turned into a larger commentary on unemployment, youth frustration and political discourse in the digital age.
