KJo’s double gift for fans: Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna series, Koffee with Karan 9
Filmmaker and show host Karan Johar will adapt his 2006 film Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna into a feature-length series for a streaming platform. He also confirmed that Koffee with Karan will return with season 9 this year.

Filmmaker Karan Johar said this is his 2006 film Never say goodbye It is being adapted into a feature length series, stating that this format will give the story and its characters more room to develop than a feature film. When the film was released 20 years ago, it received sharply divided reactions because it dealt with infidelity within marriage.
Johar also confirmed his celebrity talk show coffee with karan It will return with season 9 this year.

talking about Never say goodbye To WeekJohar said that the film faced polarized reactions in 2006. “I had a lot of people come up to me and ask me if I was unwell after that movie, because they said, ‘How can you support infidelity?’ And I said, ‘How can you support something that’s already sold’?”
He also recalled an incident at a screening held a day before the film’s release. Johar said that a traditional couple in the audience was watching the scene in which Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee’s characters stay in a hotel room. He said the woman turned dramatically towards her husband and he calmly told her, ‘This is a dream sequence.’ A few minutes later, when they realized it was not a dream sequence, the couple got up and walked out of the screening.
Johar said that moment stayed with him because it showed how divided audiences can be. He added, “And then I realized that we have such a polarized audience, that people judge what happens in their own homes, they forget it, they sweep it under the carpet, but they don’t want to see it on celluloid, even though it’s probably a reality in their own home.”
Johar further said that a feature length series based on the film is being developed for a streaming platform. The filmmaker said he was not in a position to divulge details right now.

But coffee with karanJohar kept his update brief. When asked about the return of the show, he said, ‘This year, Diwali, season 9.’
With this, he confirmed the return of a program that remains one of the most talked about talk shows in Hindi cinema due to its candid conversations and frequent debates.

Johar is reportedly preparing to direct his eighth film, a large-scale family drama backed by his banner, Dharma Productions.
