What did Karan Johar say

Reminiscing about his connection with the first film, Johar wrote, “Nostalgia is powerful. It keeps the present optimistic. My memories of watching #TheDevilWearSprada are seared into my heart. I was more in love with Meryl Streep (if that was possible) and understanding the actions of Miranda Priestly.. even though she was a tough leader, even if she was aesthetically judgmental and a browbeaten elitist to blame. Was. But I understood her pursuit of excellence and perfection. I wondered how it would feel to see Andy, Nigel, and Miranda (sic) again.”

He said he did not want to compare the sequel to the original because the first film contains what he called ‘a huge pinnacle of cumulative nostalgia’. He also said that the second film speaks directly to the present.

Johar wrote, “This sequel speaks to our times, the (sadly) emerging irrelevance of serious journalism, the digital overdrive frenzy that is eating away at the beauty of print, the powerlessness of artistically powerful forces at the hands of corporations, the need for consolidation over ideas, all this in comedy? Yes, that’s the solid strength of Part 2, it makes you think about the travesty of our times.”
