Kit Harington admits there were some ‘mistakes’ in the Game of Thrones finale: We were tired
Actor Kit Harington spoke about the criticism the eighth season of fantasy drama Game of Thrones received in 2019. He agreed that the finale season of the much-loved show was made in a hurry.
Hollywood actor Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow in HBO’s popular web series Game of Thrones, recently addressed the criticism that followed the show’s eighth and final season. He admitted that there were some mistakes in the final season, but argued that there was no ‘alternative’ because the people involved in the show’s production were “too tired.”
During a conversation with British GQKitt said, “I think if there was a mistake at the end of Thrones, it was that we were all so tired, we couldn’t go on any longer. And so I understand that some people felt it was rushed, and I can agree with them. But I’m not sure if there was a choice.”
The actor, who worked on the show for a decade, highlighted that when he saw his photos from the show, he found himself “tired”. “I look tired. I didn’t have a second season,” Kit said. Reacting to criticism of Game of Thrones season 8 (2019), the actor said, “Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think story-wise, there may have been some mistakes in the ending. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t work.”
Kit Harington was supposed to star in a Jon Snow spinoff, but the series was shelved. However, the prequel series House of the Dragon arrived in 2022 and was appreciated by GOT fans.
The finale saw Jon Snow kill Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) because she went insane. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) became Queen of the North, newly free from the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) traveled to explore what lay west of Westeros. Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was sent to the Night’s Watch, but he was actually free to live with the Wildlings, and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) was declared King of the Six Kingdoms (excluding Winterfell).
The final season of the show concluded with the airing of its final episode on 19 May 2019.
