Former model Katie Price found herself dragged to court this week after she failed to attend multiple court hearings in her bankruptcy case. Despite her history of not attending court dates, the judge dismissed the British media personality’s request for a private hearing on the case, citing mental health issues.
On Tuesday, August 27, the 46-year-old model was due to appear at the High Court to file documents and answer for her £760,000 tax debt after being declared bankrupt in March. Her lawyer, Bertie Boer-Roberts, called for the court drama to be held behind closed doors to protect Price from media scrutiny and “her mental health”. “Public scrutiny would make her condition worse,” the lawyer said.
According to The Sun, the judge complied with Katie Price’s requests and approved a private hearing for a date next month. However, Chief Bankruptcy Judge Nicholas Briggs warned the mother of five not to miss any future dates and instructed her to submit the requested documents a week before the court hearing to avoid arrest.
“You have to appear on that date, no conditions, no holidays, no foreign travel, you have to appear on that date,” the judge warned. Price, who was married to her ex-husband Alex Reid from 2010 to 2012, will now appear for a court hearing on September 24, where she will have to explain her financial troubles to the court and reveal her sources of income.
The former model had previously skipped several court hearings, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant in July. Katie’s indifference towards the bankruptcy case came to light when she flew to Turkey and got a glamorous makeover with a facelift that reportedly cost around £10,000. She was detained at Heathrow Airport as soon as she stepped into the country and appeared in court the next morning on August 8.
Katie Price, who owns six luxury cars, was asked to hand them over to the court on July 5 and was also served an eviction notice from her multi-million dollar mansion in May.
According to the report, ex-husband Alex Reid attended Price’s court hearing this week and testified against her, calling her a “calculated, cold person,” while also criticizing her mental health concerns. He said he was looking for answers and “accountability” from the model and pointed to her contrary behavior as she continues to make public appearances.
In addition, the former model’s social media earnings were also revealed during the hearing, with Price reportedly being paid £84,000 by TikTok for three months of content creation and separate income from her OnlyFans account.
As a result, the court decided to suspend her earnings from TikTok and ordered her to pay 40% of her OnlyFans earnings.
In 2019, Katie Price was declared bankrupt for the first time, followed by a second bankruptcy in March this year. In addition to tax debt, she has had numerous run-ins with the law, ranging from multiple driving bans to violating a restraining order.
Katie Price is a mother to five children, Harvey Price, 21, whom she shares with her ex-husband Dwight Yorke, Princess Tiamil Crystal Esther Andre, 16, and Junior Sav Andreas Andre, 18, whom she shares with her ex-husband Peter Andre. She also shares Jett, 10, and Bunny, 9, with her ex-husband Kieran Hayler.
