Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan, has been released again and is trending at the box office with a good hold. Starring Kajol, Mamta Kulkarni, Raakhee and Amrish Puri alongside two megastars of Indian cinema, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the cult-classic action drama has been a hit with the masses.
Karan Arjun has crossed the Rs 1 crore mark in the first weekend.
The reincarnation action drama took a good opening of Rs 25 lakh at the box office. Furthermore, it registered a massive growth of 60% and collected Rs 40 lakh on the second day. The film saw minimal growth on the third day (Sunday) and earned Rs 43 lakh, taking its total box office collection to over Rs 1 crore. ,
By the end of its opening weekend, Karan Arjun’s total earnings at the Indian box office stood at Rs 1.08 crore.
Karan Arjun has emerged as the third biggest re-release opener.
The 1995 blockbuster action film managed to find audiences even after 30 years, in 2024. However, a better start was expected from a film with such brand value and legacy. Whatever it collected, it made a record. Earning Rs 25 lakh on its opening day, Karan Arjun emerged as the third highest opener among all the re-releases of this year in Bollywood.
For those unaware, Sohum Shah’s mytho-horror Tumbbad and Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu hold the top 2 spots respectively.
However, it should be noted that the screen count of all re-releases was variable. Karan Arjun is reportedly the widest re-release of 2024, with 1114 theaters in India and 250 theaters overseas.
It will be interesting to see how it performs in the coming days. Karan Arjun still has 10 more days to stay in the theaters and perform well. Its hold on weekdays will decide whether Rakesh Roshan’s film emerges as a successful re-release or not.
