Kantha Trailer: Dulquer Salmaan appears enigmatic and powerful as the golden age Tamil superstar, adding Rana Daggubati’s grit.

After the success of Lucky Baskar (2024) and his contemplative cameo in Loca Chapter 1: Chandra, Dulquer Salmaan is gearing up for a new, intense and dramatic role in his period venture, Kantha. The film is scheduled to release on November 14, 2025.

Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, the upcoming film stars Samuthirakani and Bhagyashree Borse in the co-lead roles, with Rana Daggubati playing a pivotal role. Ahead of the release, the makers have officially unveiled the trailer.

Kantha Trailer: Dulquer Salmaan looks mysterious and poignant as the 1950s superstar

The 3-minute long trailer starts with hero TK Mahadevan getting his first success in Tamil cinema with the influence of his mentor. However, as the once obedient disciple rises to stardom and earns the title of “King of Acting”, fame begins to cloud his judgment, leading to arrogance and inner turmoil.

As the story unfolds the conflict between former master and disciple, emotions reach their peak, delivering an impactful and dramatic story with elements of a thriller.

Dulquer Salmaan delivers an intense and mysterious performance, while Samuthirakani stands out with his commanding presence. Bhagyashree Borse shines as the attractive female lead, and Rana Daggubati plays a no-nonsense police officer.

The film is reportedly inspired by the controversial life of Tamil cinema’s first superstar MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar.

The film is written by Tamizh Prabha and Selvamani Selvaraj, with Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan co-producing. The music is composed by Jhanu Chanthar, Spanish filmmaker Dani Sanchez-Lopez handles the cinematography, and Antony served as editor.

Interestingly, Dulquer had earlier played the role of a veteran actor in Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati starring Keerthy Suresh.
