Rishabh Shetty is currently busy shooting for Kantara Chapter 1, which is the prequel to his previous release Kantara. The film recently gained attention when local people complained that explosives were being used by the film crew near forest land during shooting, endangering the lives of animals. Apart from this, there are also reports of a crew member assaulting a local person during a heated argument.
And now, according to a recent report in Bangalore Mirror, the Karnataka Forest Department has started investigation at the shooting site of Kantara Chapter 1 taking place in Herur village.
Karnataka’s Forest Minister, Ishwar Khandre, has highlighted how the production house, Homble Films, was allowed to shoot the film only in the grassland area of Gaivbeta and its surroundings.
However, based on complaints from locals at Yeslur police station, it seems that the crew has crossed the limits and entered the main forest area for shooting activities and disturbing the wildlife in the area.
The Forest Minister said that after hearing all these complaints, investigation has been started soon. Furthermore, if after investigation the forest officials find that forest laws have been violated, the shooting of the film will be stopped immediately.
He said, “As soon as I came to know about it, I directed officials to go to the spot and inspect.” If the conditions set by Hasan, Deputy Conservator of Forests, are violated and any damage is caused to the wildlife, the shooting will be stopped immediately.
For those unaware, according to an earlier report in India Today, the crew had allegedly attacked a local villager after the villager complained about the alleged damage caused to the environment and forest by the shooting.
