Kantara actor Saptami Gowda publicly spoke out against the practice of paparazzi capturing and broadcasting inappropriate videos and photographs of female actors at public events. He called for restraint and professionalism from the people.

In a statement shared on Instagram Story, Gowda highlighted that inappropriate videos and pictures are constantly surfacing, leading to unease among women in the industry. Gowda wrote, “As women in the film industry, we stand together to address a recurring issue. Time and again, videos and photographs of female artistes at public events are shot and broadcast from inappropriate angles, with unnecessary zooms that focus on our bodies rather than our work.”
She emphasized the impact of such actions on the dignity and professionalism of female actors. According to him, a section of individuals in the media behave in a manner that undermines the purpose of public presence, which should be focused on cinema and craft rather than invasion of personal space.
“This behavior by some individuals is outrageous and unacceptable. We are here for our craft. We are here for our cinema,” Gowda said, reinforcing the expectation of decency from those covering events.

Gowda and his colleagues have adopted a united stand to resolve the issue. He added, “We categorically condemn deliberate zoom-ins and inappropriate angles. They are a clear violation of dignity and will not be normalized or tolerated. We expect people covering events to maintain professionalism, basic respect and decency.”
The actor indicated that these actions not only hurt those affected, but also set a problematic precedent for the industry. She stressed the importance of boundary-setting and solidarity among women in the film.
“We are united in setting this limit. We stand in solidarity with every woman who has experienced this – and we will continue to support each other in demanding respect,” Gowda concluded, highlighting the collective resolve within the industry.
