Vishnu Manchu’s much-hyped mythological film Kannappa, which also stars Prabhas, has been the talk of the town ever since its announcement. While the film was earlier scheduled for release in December, the makers have finally locked it for April 2025. Recently, Manchu revealed whether the postponement was due to Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 hitting the theaters in the same month.

During an event, Vishnu Manchu was asked if the December release date of his film Kannappa has been pushed to make room for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.

In response, the actor highlighted that both his and Allu Arjun’s films were being backed by the same distributors. However, he said that the release date of his film was rescheduled due to pending VFX works.

“We want to talk to producers of big-budget films and give them space to release them,” he said. The actor-filmmaker said, “We wanted to release Kannappa in August, but it was not possible. But we thought that it should be brought at least in December. But more VFX. The post-production work has not been completed yet.”

Manchu said that the producers wanted to “present a good film” to the public. Hence, he said that they decided to go with the release date of April 2025 once all the work will be completed.

Vishnu Manchu further mentioned that a special part of Kannappa is still being shot in Paris and its footage will be made available only by the end of December. Therefore, it was necessary to postpone the film to summer 2025.

Well, it was on 25th November when the final release date of Kannappa was announced by the makers. With the new date of April 25, 2025, the film managed to avoid a clash between two big releases later this year, Pushpa 2 and Ram Charan’s Game Changer.

Talking about the film, Kannappa is based on a folktale in Hindu mythology, about a man of great power who was a devotee of Lord Shiva.

Apart from Vishnu Manchu, the film has also garnered a lot of attention for its special cameos featuring actors like Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal and Akshay Kumar.
