The Telugu devotional film, ‘Kannappa’, was opened on a solid note at the domestic box office when released on June 27. The film has crossed 1 collection of Kajol’s horror drama ‘Maa’ and Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ at the box office in India. ‘Kannappa’ is a film based on The Legend of Kannappa, who is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva.

According to the tracking website, SacnilkThe film grossed Rs 9 crore at the domestic box office. Although it is not a large number to start with dramatic runs, the film is watching in excellent occupants in theaters. ‘Kannappa’ is expected to see an inclination in numbers during the weekend.

Kajol’s ‘Maa’ confronts Rs 4.50 crore, which ‘Kannappa’ did at the box office on its first day. Brad Pitt’s much awaited ‘F1’ collected Rs 5.25 crore in India.

Bharat Today’s critic, Sanjay Ponnappa evaluated 5 stars out of 2.5 and wrote, “Kannappa faults when it comes to direction, screenplay and execution. Director Mukesh Kumar Singh, who is known for many mythological TV serials, brings the same melodramatic and slightly old touch for the film.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, ‘Kannappa’ has a cloth artist including Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Agwarlal and Prabhas in cameo roles. The supporting roles include Mohan Babu, Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Madhu, Mukesh Rishi and Raghu Babu.

‘Kannappa’ is jointly manufactured by Ava Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory.
