Kanguva box office first day: Suriya’s film earns around Rs 40 crore globally
Suriya’s magnum opus Kanguva received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. The film is reported to have earned around Rs 40 crore worldwide on its first day in theatres.
Tamil superstar Suriya’s fantasy action drama, Kanguva recorded a normal opening at the box office on November 14. The morning shows of the film (4 am shows in Kerala and 4.30 am shows in Andhra Pradesh) started late by about an hour due to technical issues. Despite initial delays, Kanguva is said to have earned around Rs 40 crore globally. The film, directed by Siva, received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
Early estimates suggest that Kanguva grossed around Rs 40 crore worldwide. The film was released on 14 November in a record number of screens in theaters worldwide.
According to tracking website SacnilkKanguva is said to have collected around Rs 22 crore nett at the domestic box office on 14 November. This is quite normal for such a big film. The Tamil version of the film recorded an occupancy of 37.25 percent on 14 November.
Ahead of the release, Suriya and the producers of Kanguva promoted the film aggressively in Mumbai, targeting the Hindi belt for pan-India success. However, on November 14, Hindi occupancy was just 11.47 percent. With the film receiving a lukewarm response, it is quite possible that the film may fall flat in the North Belt.
Advance booking started on a grand note in Kerala. According to Friday Matinee, Kanguva reportedly grossed over Rs 4 crore in Kerala.
