Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at Indian politicians as British MP supports emergency
Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut on Friday shared a video on social media, where British politician Bob Blackman can be seen defending the screening of her film Emergency in the UK. He also slammed Indian politicians for their silence on the matter.

Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut’s emergency call is facing protests not only in Punjab, but also in parts of the UK. Kangana Ranaut on Friday shared a video on social media, where British MP Bob Blackman could be heard speaking in support of the political drama emergency and defended her right to do so. Kangana praised Blackman for amplifying her voice and questioned the lack of support from “Indian politicians and feminists”.
“British MP raised his voice for my fundamental right to free speech, meanwhile there is pin drop silence from Indian politicians and feminists (sic),” Kangana wrote on Twitter.
Bob Blackman originally shared his video from the House of Commons and wrote, “I watched the horror of my constituents, and many others, as pro-Khalistan thugs disrupted screenings of the new emergency film in cinemas. Some cinemas have also pulled the film fearing further disruption.

In the clip Blackman claimed that “masked Khalistani terrorists” disrupted the screening. He then said that similar activities took place in other areas of the UK, which forced cinema owners to take down the film. “Now, this is a very controversial film. I don’t want to comment on the content or quality of the film, but I defend the right of others to be able to watch the film,” Blackman said in the video.
In India, various Sikh bodies are protesting against the release of the political drama, as they claimed that the film distorts the facts surrounding the controversial period of Indian history.
In the film, Kangana plays the role of former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Apart from the lead star, Emergency also stars Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher and Milind Soman, among others, in pivotal roles. It was released in theaters on 17 January.
