“I was scared. I felt it was a wrong decision to release it in theaters. I thought I could get a better deal on OTT and it would mean I wouldn’t have to go through any censorship. I was scared what my film would be like.” dissected And I don’t know what will be removed and what will be kept. (I didn’t know what they would censor and what they would keep),” Kangana said.
Furthermore, Kangana commented how she took things lightly and thought that nothing would happen to her film because of the BJP’s national rule. “I felt like I made bad decisions and choices on many levels, and wanted to direct the film in the first place. I took things for granted thinking that we didn’t have Congress government at the centerA lot happened when Mrs. Gandhi served as Prime Minister of India for three terms. It was dangerous. I thought that I would be saved by imposing emergency. But this did not happen. I was in despair. However, we fought the situation,” she said.
Given all the suggestions by the censor board to edit some scenes, Kangana shared that the final version is slightly edited. Responding to the same, he said, “We have great respect for government bodies and we have cooperated with them. We had to edit out some things, but it’s not because they’re not true or there’s no evidence to back them up. It’s just that we didn’t want to hurt sentiments. We submitted all the required documents. Everything was examined by historians and people from different communities and parts of the country. He did not find anything objectionable in the film. They felt it was unfair to stop its release.
