Kaho Na Pyaar Hai: Ameesha Patel recalls the film craze of the 2000s; They say, ‘People will get married in temples with our photographs, will get letters written with blood’

The film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai starring Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel marked her debut in the film industry. But, its massive success became a game changer for the actors overnight. As the film is set to re-release on January 10, 2025, the actress took a trip down memory lane and shared how fans went crazy for her and Hrithik. The passion increased to such an extent that someone wrote letters with their own blood and someone married their photographs.

In a new interview with News 24, Ameesha Patel expressed her gratitude for the two films in her career, including Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. He shared that the film was released in 2000 when there was no concept of reels or social media. Nevertheless, the craze for the film took over fans and they started dressing up like their characters from the film.

Although he was happy with his popularity, some unexpected things awaited him. Patel revealed, “Hrithik and I both received marriage proposals from fans. They would get married in temples with our photos. I received letters written in blood professing my love. It was very scary. I was stalked. There were people… people were following us.”

At the time, there was no big culture of having bodyguards with actors, but since some fans went overboard, he had to hire an entourage at the beginning of his journey in the film industry. It took time for the Gadar actress to eventually come to terms with popularity as she could not go to restaurants or salons as freely as before.

Although she was grateful for the success, the actress admitted that the constant attention felt overwhelming at times. She shared that things have changed for her and during her journey of the last 25 years in the film industry, she sometimes wanted a quieter life. Still, the love that blossomed between her and Hrithik Roshan topped everything.
