Jude Law has now become a big name in the Hollywood film industry. With his stints in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and major franchise titles like Harry Potter as well as his recent venture with Star Wars, the highly acclaimed actor recently went down memory lane by reminiscing about his early days in the film industry.

Speaking candidly, Jude Law revealed how lucky he felt to be in the Hollywood film industry when he was making mid-budget films.

“I mean, I feel very fortunate that when I got into this business, they were making (medium-budget movies),” the Fantastic Beasts: The Mysteries of Dumbledore actor said.

Law then also recalled the films he made with big names like Anthony Minghella, saying, “Looking back now, it’s remarkable that we were allowed to get away with it.” However, Jude Law, who is a 2-time Oscar nominee, even said that those films had a great way of storytelling that everyone misses.

Law also noted that those films had perfect budgets and were given a fair amount of time and patience for the stories, which is “absolutely at the heart of filmmaking.”

According to the Enemy at the Gates actor, the current style of filmmaking serves as “an empty space”.

The old mid-budget era was definitely the best time for movies. While Jude Law misses the good old days of movies, as an audience we also hope that time comes back with great stories.

Jude Law worked with Minghella in The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1999. The pair then returned for another film, Cold Mountain, in 2003 and then 2006’s Breaking and Entering.

For those who don’t know, Jude Law earned Oscar nominations for both The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain.

The Talented Mr. Ripley stars Philip Seymour Hoffman along with other big names like Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Cate Blanchett.

Law will next be seen in the first season of the Disney+ series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. In the space opera, the Road to Perdition actor will be seen playing the role of Jod Na Dawood.

The Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres on Monday.
