Marvel’s famous villain Josh Brolin has opened up about his childhood surrounded by animals. Recalling his mother, the actor revealed that since his mother has been a big animal lover, he has spent a lot of time surrounded by wildlife. During his appearance on Sirius XM’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast, the Avengers: Infinity War actor opened up about his childhood and his mother, who Brolin claims has no filter.
While chatting with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson, the Dune actor confessed that his mother once almost gave a man to a lion. “My mom had no filter, so as crazy as she was — and she was absolutely crazy — she gave me something that could open the pores of all the filters that existed, and I’m very grateful to her for that,” he recalled.
He added, “She was a way for animals that were illegally taken out of the wild (by people who tried to domesticate them).” Brolin further explained that his mother would find people who abused animals, put them in jail, and then take care of injured wildlife and give them shelter in her organization.
Meanwhile, the actor also revealed that his mother had hired a man named Bud, who would take care of wildlife and feed the animals when they were weak.

Brolin shared a funny incident with Bud when he was afraid to approach animals. The Outer Range actor revealed, “Bud said, ‘You want me to go in that thing and sit down?’ I mean, he didn’t know anything else, poor guy, so he went in there.”
The actor added, “And she (the mother) says, ‘Okay, sit next to him.’ And (the lion) just sits there and she says, ‘Now put the bowl near your face and then put your head down like you’re eating.’ And then he gets up and the lions — you know how they look like dogs and they just move one eye, the other eye — move forward and she says, ‘Well, he’s moving.'”
Describing his childhood as quite unconventional, Brolin said that he is grateful for his life lessons that helped him break into the industry and reach this successful position.
