Janhvi Kapoor says Bollywood follows excel sheet, Telugu cinema follows passion
Janhvi Kapoor said that Telugu cinema prioritizes creativity over deadlines and praised the work culture of the industry, while Ram Charan praised Bollywood’s ability to finish films quickly.

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor talked about the differences she has seen between the Hindi and Telugu film industries, saying that Telugu cinema puts more emphasis on the creative process and maintains a healthy work culture with better respect for working hours. He shared his views on the difference between the two industries during a recent interview.

Reflecting on his experience, he said, “I think there’s a lot of passion and pride in a South film set. It’s not so much about making a project and it’s not about meeting certain deadlines. It’s more about making cinema, no matter how long it takes, whether it’s dependent on the director’s instincts or many other variables.”
The actress compared it to the Hindi film industry, which she described as more structured and process-driven. She said, “I think in Hindi cinema, the Excel sheet matters a lot. So you are very much by the book and I would say maybe a little systematic, sometimes even to a fault because then there are creative compromises. But there are advantages to being systematic and rigorous.”
Janhvi also praised the Telugu film industry’s approach to work-life balance and said that actors, technicians and crew members are given adequate breaks and reasonable working hours. She said, “What I really appreciate about the Telugu film industry is their respect for everyone’s working hours. Not just the actors, but also the technicians and crew members. The lunch break means everyone can eat for 40 minutes and take a 20-minute nap, then come back refreshed for acting or their work. Sometimes one has to compromise when back home.”
The actor further explained that shooting schedules in Telugu cinema are generally shorter and more regulated. He said, “I think only once or twice have I shot for the full 12 hours. Otherwise it’s almost always like 9-10 hours. And night shoots always end at 2 am so you get rest. They’re very particular about things like that.”
Responding to Janhvi’s comments, Ram Charan said that there are certain aspects of Bollywood’s work culture that he admires, especially the ability to complete films in a short period of time. He said, “Really, I look at the industry there. They do everything on time. I wish I could finish films in 70 days or less.” Janhvi said, “Sometimes 30-40 days.” Then Charan cited pedi For example, revealing that the film took 285 shooting days over two years to complete.
