Jana Nayagan’s producer addresses censor controversy: Vijay deserves the farewell he has earned
Amid the Jan Nayakan censor controversy, the makers have for the first time spoken in detail about the challenges they faced during certification of the Thalapathy Vijay starrer.
Venkat K Narayan, Producer Jan Naygan Under KVN Productions, shared a video and commented for the first time on the ongoing controversy involving the censor board and court proceedings related to Thalapathy Vijay’s film. In response to the ongoing speculation regarding the film’s approval and release, Narayan addressed the situation by sharing his perspective on the matter.
He clarified his position on the issues Jan Naygan Have encountered during your conversation With sensor board. According to Narayan, the production faced significant challenges in the approval process, which has become a focal point of public discussion about the film.
He said, “The film was submitted to the CBFC on December 18, 2025, which was seen by the screening committee. On December 22, 2025, we received an email stating that the film would be given a UA 16+ certificate subject to certain changes. We incorporated the suggested changes and resubmitted the film.”

He further added, “A few days before our planned release, on January 5, 2026, we were informed that the film had been sent to the Revision Committee based on a complaint. With time running out to contact the Revision Committee and without knowing who the complainant was, we approached the Honorable High Court.”
He also apologized to fans, distributors and exhibitors who had placed high hopes Jan Naygan’s Issuing that the delay was completely out of their control.
Throughout his remarks, Narayan reiterated that Thalapathy Vijay deserves a farewell befitting his long-standing contribution to the industry. He highlighted Vijay’s decades of work and indicated that such recognition is rightly earned.

During the second hearing on January 9, the court granted a temporary stay on the earlier order, directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue U/A certificates. This means that the certificate will not be issued until the case has been fully heard.
